The King’s Speech winning the most coveted Best Picture award is really predictable.  Its closest contender to the spot was Black Swan – but other than this, many film critics and reviewers were already sure The King’s Speech will nab the award by the end of the night.

The rest of the results were also highly expected – Natalie Portman winning Best Actress for “Black Swan”, Colin Firth for Best Actor in “The King’s Speech”, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo as Best Supporting Actress and Supporting Actor in “The Fighter”.  They were my bets too, although I daresay that part of me really wanted James Franco to win the Best Actor Award, Annette Benning for Best Actress and Hailee Steinfeld for Best Supporting Actress.  Christian Bale was really untouchable – even my favorites Geoffrey Rush and Mark Ruffalo can’t top “Dicky’s” performance.

Some of the things that really caught my attention –

  1. Hailee Steinfeld looking stunning all through out.  She is the prettiest 14 year old actress in the world.
  2. Melissa Leo F-bombing.
  3. Natalie Portman teary eyed while accepting her Best Actress Award
  4. Jesse Eisenberg looking indifferent (and still in character, I supposed)
  5. Was it me or was James Franco bored with Anne Hathaway? Uh, idk.
  6. Francis Ford Coppola’s presence.
  7. Kirk Douglas being awaken from the dead.
  8. Jeff Bridges BAMF look.

And I just have to say this – where are all my Inception boys? Leonardo diCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy were not present in the event.

Lastly, I wish the Academy would give Leonardo diCaprio an Oscar Award.  He IS long overdue.  It’s like seeing Martin Scorsese getting snubbed with an Oscar win all over again (after all those brilliant films like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas).

Leo should have won the Best Actor Award in The Departed (which is my favorite film of the decade).  The thing is, he wasn’t even nominated.

Perhaps, the Oscar win will have its way around with either J. Edgar or The Great Gatsby (confirmed to be diCaprio’s upcoming films).  Sooner please.

Twilight The Movie and The Hottest Predator

Edward Cullen - Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson is considered to be the hottest predator there is today. I think that he is really good in portraying the role as a vampire. As we have already seen Pattinson in his ultra good, excellent and kind Hufflepuff boy in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – here in the Twilight movie, his fascinating vampiric nature will be revealed.

Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory

Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory

I still remember the time when I’m still reading the Harry Potter series and I thought that Cedric’s character is really interesting. Now that I just finished the Twilight, the actual pull of interest in actually that intense, especially for the fact that I could visualize Pattinson more and his wild side in Twilight .

Well to get to know Edward more – he’s born really just a normal kid with the full name Edward Anthony Masen Cullen on June 20, 1901. Sort of a century year old guy if you ask me. But he actually died of Spanish influenza when he was 17, and thanks to Carlisle, the super appealing boy has restored his self as an immortal vampire. So Edward is just this hostile boy in class, but he is actually interested in playing baseball and piano, and you get the idea that he enjoys riding fast cars. He also loves classical music (go figure! he’s actually old! just kidding… ) He’s special abilities include reading minds of people, except Bella Swan, the female protagonist of the movie

Closer Look on Edward

Closer Look on Edward

He is never known to have any romantic relationship for over a century, not until she meets Bella Swan. Actually he felt the desire to bite her the moment he notices her, and he actually went to Alaska to unwind with this ‘unnatural’ behavior (as his family doesn’t feed on humans) but he came back, eventually to Forks. There he began to talk with Bella more, and he fell in love with Bella. And the feeling was mutual because the mortal Bella is head over heels in love with him too! Oh great.

Edward knew for a fact that it is an obvious risk to be with Bella, as he didn’t want to bite her accidentally, and the fact that he could never change the truth that he was a vampire. But life goes on with the two, and Bella loves Edward in whatever form that he is, and well, much much more conflicts will arise regarding this set-up. But you have to read the entire series for the rest or this. Or chill with the upcoming movie, which will premiere on November 21 this year.

The Twilight movie was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, produced by Twilight Prod. and distributed by Summit Entertainment. It is classified as a romantic-fantasy film, which stars Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan. Twilight soundtracks include Supermassive Black Hole by Muse, Full Moon by Black Ghosts, Decode by Paramore, Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park, and many more.

Losing Myself in the Strawberry Labyrinth of Love!

I finished reading the Ichigo 100% manga series! Gosh, I’ve been reading it since first year college. It took me a long time to finish it actually, mainly because our pc’s not internet connected (oh, by the way, I read it online, not the actual printed material) and so I have to spend lots of money just reading it in my favorite internet café.I read it on http://readmanga.com but I found out that you can actually download it for free so I preferred the latter. What I did was, while I was doing academic stuffs researching in the net or updating my blog, I was also downloading it.Saves a lot of trouble, time and money. Hehehe.I could finish my required stuffs and I could read the manga at home.

I really like the story, maybe it so funny, Manaka ending up in a strawberry labyrinth of love. *laughs.

This is a summary of the manga series. Not really accurate, I’m just trying to recall some important events. And if you haven’t read the manga just yet and plan to read it, DON’T READ BEYOND THIS BECAUSE IT MIGHT SPOIL YOU. But if you want the other way around, read at your own risk. Continue reading
